blogging project
Before I start, I want to first thank ZP for giving me such a great chance to return back to the old RV that we use to study in and remember all the great memories that we had. I am very happy that I got to met a new friend called Ying ting, who joined our blogging project.
The day started off pretty bad. It started to rain heavily right at the time the three of us met. As we were stranded at JEC, we thought we might as well take a few photos of the place, since JEC had been RVian’s favourite haunt for a very very long time.
I can still remember, JEC wasn’t like this previously. About half a year ago, JEC was very dark. The floor tiles were dark green in colour, and the whole place wasn’t as clean as it is now. There were also dinosaurs coming out of the wall and hanging from the ceiling. There were also the theatre that don’t really have a “门面”. Now it
has been shifted to the second floor, and finally it has a more presentable and visible store…haha.
The change to the toilets was most significant. I can still remember last time, the toilets were very small and dark and smelly. They give you a feeling that you might get…ermm…”embushed” or something in there anytime. From the old and shabby toilets, they had now transformed to the white and bright toilets, “high techly” equipped with the cool hand drier that make your hand freeze.
I think the main reason why JEC has been our favourite haunt is that there is no other place that allows you to just sit down in the middle of no where like that and eat. Of course JE is also the most convenient place where most RVians live. These are the two major RV territorries…
Of course we cannot forget or favourite photo hunt machine! The score board was OWNED by RVians…scary…haha but it has been changed to a new machine…
After some time, the rain sort of reduced. With only one umbrela in the hand, the three of us chionged to the bus stop. The umbrela doesn’t really help much though…
Soon, 176 is here. I still felt a sense of familiarity as I took the bus that I had been taking every morning at 6 30 for 2 years. I can still remember that time when we still study in west coast, 176 can also be considered owned by RVians. This is probably because only two buses passes the school, namely 30 and 176.
As the bus drove pass the school, I reallise that the barriers that had been there for years was gone. I can finally see the inside of the school. But…it was different already. The scene doesn’t match the memories that was stucked in my head for 4 years.
The rain was very heavy and we had to take shelter at a void deck near by. That is where I first started writing my draft for this post. I can still remember the time when our class 2D/04 went to these flats to collect newspapers. We really collect a lot of newspapers. When piled up, they covered the whole wall of the class room.
Soon, the rain died down. Thinking that it is best not to enter the school which is now owned by Commonwealth Secondary through the front gate, we entered through the back gate ( a.k.a gate 3)
some of the buildings are still there, these includes the old sec 4 block, sec 2 + EL room + home econ block, the canteen and hall. All the others are gone. The D&T block + band room and AVA 2 is gone. The main sec 1 block + general office + staff room block is gone. Even the Eco garden wasn’t exactly there already. You will see why from the picture. The very very large parade square that the UG used to march on is no longer there too. This walk through the school had make me reallise how characterised it is is our school colours – red, blue, white, grey. With the new yellow and green commonwealth colours, the RV feeling is completely gone. What maked me even more sad, is that we had to now walk into the school, as if risking our lives entering a mine zone. The once so homely place is now so foreign…
see if you all can still remember the places….
after looking round the school, we went to our dear old pandan reservoir…
can you spot the jetty that marks 1.2 km?
hai…how nice it is to run 2.4 there…with the winds blowing onto your face and such great sceneries to see, who can get tired running?
The following is only more pictures of our journey to commonwealth campus which doesn’t really have much to write about since we only left there 6 months ago. Almost everything is the same, even the school colour is there. That is probably the main reason why it still feels very RV like as we walk round the school…

the road pass the field that almost all RVians had to walk everyday.
this trip down the memory lane is very meaningful to me. It is like taking a school tour. As we went from places to places, we remembered what we did there, what fun we had, what joys and sorrows we had. Of course, Ying ting had been our audience since she had never experience the life in westcoast campus. This trip had really make me feel that RV is really my second home. As we graduate from RV, I will hold these memories dear in my heart. I hope this short recount of the little trip we had is able to bring you the old memories that we had together in RV…
